I can relate!

Hi, I’m Sophie. Growing up, I thought constantly about changing my body. I went on my first diet at age 12, which sent me down a path of disordered eating, weight cycling, and low self-esteem for many years.

Thankfully, through my graduate education I experienced a radical shift in how I viewed my own and others’ bodies, which sparked a desire to help those who were struggling with food and body image issues.

In my practice today, I draw primarily from psychodynamic therapy and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). I strive to offer a warm, collaborative space where my clients can explore their emotions and experiences with curiosity and self-compassion.

Therapy for body image, weight stigma, and disordered eating

Are you struggling with negative feelings about your body?

Have you received critical comments about your body from family or friends?

Do you have a strained relationship with food?

In our weight obsessed culture, we receive so many messages about the importance of achieving or maintaining the “ideal” body. These messages lead many people to feel anxious or fearful about their body shape or size, creating pressure to constantly monitor, change, or control their appearance. Over time, this can contribute to a complicated and often stressful relationship with food, body image, and self-worth.

There is a different path—one that allows you to move through life with more ease, self-compassion, and confidence. I would be honored to walk this path with you.
